How it is worked out

EPF: employee 11%, employer 13% on wages up to RM5,000 and 12% above (citizens under 60). It is charged on the top of the wage band and rounded up to the next ringgit. Age 60 and above: employee 0%, employer 4%. Foreign workers: 2% each. Overtime is not counted for EPF.

SOCSO: employee 0.5%, employer 1.75% (first category), on wages up to the RM6,000 ceiling. EIS: 0.2% each, same ceiling, for employees aged 18 to 60 only.

PCB: an estimate of the year's tax (pay × 12, less the RM9,000 individual relief, spouse, children, EPF up to RM4,000 and SOCSO/EIS up to RM350), divided by 12. A RM400 rebate applies when chargeable income is RM35,000 or less. LHDN's official PCB formula works month by month, so the real figure can differ slightly.
